In this introductory chapter the ideas informing the book series are made explicit. Structured around key ideas and concepts in postqualitiative, critical posthumanist and new materialist research each chapter of this first book in the series is introduced. Situated with/in the strange times of the coronavirus pandemic the chapter explores how to reconfigure the concept of family and to make kin with the nonhuman, the more-than-human and humans never treated as fully-human on the basis of race, gender, class, ability and age. It could be used to help navigate the terrain with its images and various links to websites and YouTube videos.
